Ziff Davis seeks a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, team player to serve as counsel to all of Ziff Davis but primarily working with the IGN team along with Humble Bundle and Mashable’s Cinefix unit. The candidate should be diligent and proactive, and have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently.

 

Knowledge of IP, privacy and data use issues along with experience working on tech contracts and with video production teams are critical.

 

This is a full-time position.

 

Flexibility to be located in our San Francisco, Seattle or Culver City office; but domestic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including data agreements, licensing agreements, production agreements, distribution agreements and terms of service.
  • Advise business units on intellectual property, licensing, data protection, privacy, digital advertising, clearance and other legal issues relevant to content creation and distribution by an online media company.
  • Structure, draft and negotiate agreements for audiovisual programming, including production services agreements, content license agreements and providing general legal advice in connection with production risk, negotiating standard production forms and releases, conducting pre-broadcast review, and providing rights and clearance guidance.
  • Knowledge/experience with data protection and data privacy issues, and with U.S. and International privacy statutes and regulations, including GDPR

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department. 
  • CIPO/US, CIPP/E or CIPM certification preferred
