In this role, you will be responsible for building a web platform that integrates seamlessly with WhatToExpect’s mobile apps, voice assistants and messaging services.  The WTE audience is early adopters of new technology, which means that modern experiences are critical to reaching them where they engage.     Who You Are:

    A Leader: You will drive the future direction of the company’s data platform re-architecture traditional .NET / SQL Server / MySql infrastructure to next-generation Cloud/AWS environments while leading a talented team of engineers.  

    A Team Player:  You will roll up your sleeves while working alongside business stakeholders, product owners, and other developers to help architect, build and manage the highly interactive data-rich applications and define a vision for the future of What to Expect through modern technology. 

    Responsibilities

    What You’ll Do

    • Building and migrating current DB, APIs layer + MSSQL infrastructure to AWS DynamoDB/Serverless/Microservices architecture .
    • Architect both NO-SQL (Couchbase, DynamoDB, …) and SQL Server solutions.
    • Contribute to integration architecture, performance tuning, capacity planning and data quality activities for the system.
    • Develop data models to support data processing, management, and delivery.
    • Perform impact analysis on data models when new integration logic or new source systems are introduced.
    • Perform unit and integration testing and participate in test and production deployments.
    • Implement techniques from machine learning, heuristics, and statistical analysis on terabyte-scale data.
    • Create and provide daily/weekly status updates to a Development Manager overseeing the unit.

    Qualifications

    What You’ll Bring

    • 5 plus years’ experience programming with data structures using Python/ Scala / C# / Java
    • Knowledge and hands-on in AWS, lambda, api-gateway, DynamoDB, ECS
    • Experience with Spark on Databricks, is a plus
    • Experience creating and comparing solutions with NoSQL (Couchbase, DynamoDB, …) and SQL Server solutions
    • An understanding of the world of Big Data and the challenges and solutions while dealing with terabytes of data.
    • Passion for database design and writing SQL/T-SQL that performs optimally.
    • Ability and willingness to handle both large projects and small tasks as needed.
