Overview

In this role you will be based in the New York City office and work with Ziff Davis’ Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) and work with key stakeholders such as the Information Security Officer and inter-department privacy team, along with other business units in all of Ziff Davis’ offices, on important and often confidential privacy matters relating to all parts of Ziff Davis’ businesses. The ideal candidate has a background in data privacy, information and data management and experience in working with a team that handles a variety of data privacy issues such as risk management, data mapping, and developing controls.

 

Work Schedule/Terms:

This is a contract position; pay to be based on an hourly rate; days and hours are flexible and to be agreed upon with the CPO; Length of contract term to be determined

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing initiatives within the organization by assisting with privacy impact assessments and performing gap analysis to understand risks, identify opportunities for improvement and propose remediation as appropriate
  • Design implementation plans for data privacy matters remediation with the CPO.
  • Support the overall privacy program design, privacy policy and associated procedure(s) development as well as adoption by relevant stakeholders groups in order to adhere to all applicable laws, guidelines and best practices applicable to Ziff Davis and its activities. This includes program maintenance and audit/enforcement of privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Implement the privacy program framework, including assessing evaluating and managing external vendors as relevant.
  • Create, as necessary, documentation, policies, and procedures, including creating data inventories, workflows, maps and classification in support of the data privacy program implementation
  • Implement and conduct data privacy audits on policies and procedures compliance to ensure continued adherence to the overall framework of the firm and specific implementation for the audited activity or process
  • Interface with individual members of various departments across the entire company to ensure proper administration of and compliance with the privacy program
  • Provide project management structure and best practices to run the deployment of the data privacy program as well as remediation efforts
  • Assist the CPO with and managing various administrative activities, both internally and externally, as well as running some short term data privacy related projects
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years of working experience as project manager or business analyst on initiatives directly relevant to data privacy
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Governance, Information Management or Information Assurance.
  • Hands on knowledge of current privacy technologies for data mapping, cookie compliance, risk assessments, data subject rights, third party risk management, privacy impact assessments and/or consent documentation required
  • Ability to properly handle confidential information
  • Very detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow through on numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Takes ownership of deliverables and drives for results
  • Strong business analysis skills
    • Proven ability to accurately read, draft and understand basic legal terms and privacy concepts is critical
  • Excellent MS Office skills and ability to use effectively web-based technologies

Preferred:

  • Certified Information Privacy Manager (“CIPM”) certification or similar is strongly preferred
  • Experience in digital media industry strongly preferred
