Ziff Davis is looking for a dynamic Business Intelligence Analyst to work out of our New York office, reporting to the Manager of BI & Analytics.

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for helping support data analysis and insights to allow for improved decision-making for better business outcomes in both display advertising and commerce, as well as working to streamline KPI and Dashboard reporting for the business unit as a whole. In this function, you’ll work with Commerce, Editorial, Email, Merchandising and Display advertising stakeholders to lift and optimize revenue.

We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested about web traffic, monetization and commerce analytics, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves and mining through multiple data sources, metrics and reporting platforms to derive the findings and communicate the strategy. The ideal candidate can demonstrate an ability to translate business challenges into analytical solutions, making informed, data driven decisions to drive the quality and efficiency related operations including content production, merchandising and site UX/UI improvements.


  • Develop, streamline and gather requirements for  Business Unit level reporting and dashboards
  • Identify reporting requirements, monitor the reporting implementation, evaluate post-launch metrics and provide next steps 
  • Utilize core commerce platforms, database querying, data manipulation and statistical analysis to provide business support to all property owners to ultimately grow 
  • Effectively measure yield across different tactics, strategies and revenue streams
  • Manage financial models for evaluating ROI to help set investment levels for existing and new marketing programs including new product and content 
  • Solve key business questions by identifying trends, designing tests and conducting deep dive analysis to optimize site template, partner relationship and deal 
  • Support the evaluation of ongoing analytics and insights needs from stakeholders through automated and ad-hoc solutions


  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to problem solve independently as well as analyze large volumes of raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Advanced Knowledge of Excel and SQL
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity for existing practices/processes and execute appropriate improvements
  • Expert user of digital analytics tools like Google Analytics or Adobe Suite
  • Demonstrated experience creating automated dashboards (Tableau an asset)
  • Experience in data modeling, data architecture, data quality, metadata, ETL and data warehouse methodologies and technologies
  • Basic understanding of statistical models and ability to apply them to real life situations
  • Vision to glean business insights from data patterns and present them to upper management

Nice To Have:

  • Understanding of Affiliate Marketing landscape
  • Basic understanding of SEO,SEM and paid arbitrage tactics
  • Knowledge of user and traffic acquisition, user pathing and behavior  
  • Any development experience in scripting languages to deliver complex BI reporting solutions (Python / R preferable)
  • A/B Testing and framework experience (Optimizely)
