Overview

What to Expect, the world’s best-known, most trusted pregnancy and parenting brand, is seeking a creative Audience Development Manager to join our team.  The Audience Development Manager will be charged with leveraging What to Expect’s content and digital products to grow the brand’s audience across social networks, the web and mobile apps, among other platforms.

About You

 

The ideal candidate loves marketing, is obsessed with data, and is naturally curious about how audiences and networks scale.  He/she is comfortable developing and managing relationships with influencers, bloggers and journalists, and evangelizing What to Expect’s newest content and projects to them.  The candidate is self-motivated, possesses excellent analytical skills, and has a strong proficiency in Excel and Photoshop. He/she will be expected to post What to Expect content to social networks and find creative ways to adapt stories and videos to new platforms.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Expand reach and brand awareness of What to Expect on social networks (primary Facebook and Instagram), search engines, app stores, and through media outlets.
  • Create relationships with influencers, media outlets, journalists and bloggers to drive coverage of and backlinks to What to Expect.  
  • Develop social posts, press releases and/or other content based on What to Expect editorial, product initiatives or marketing programs to pitch to influencers, journalists, bloggers and media outlets.
  • Collaborate with the What to Expect editorial team daily to determine the best posts and topics for Facebook, Instagram and our distribution partners.
  • Post great content several times per day to social networks.
  • Create strategies to optimize competitive position of app store search rankings for top keywords.
  • Track effectiveness of your work, report on results and make recommendations to increase effectiveness.
  • Work closely with editorial, product, technology, marketing and design to influence the product and editorial roadmaps, and ensure you are using the     best possible material in your outreach.
  • Manage multiple initiatives at once, be able to deliver on tight deadlines

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of work experience social media, SEO and/or communications for a consumer brand
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing preferred
  • Understanding of social platforms and messaging apps (especially Facebook and Instagram), and why and how content on those platforms becomes popular
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Proven track record of growing organic social referrals and audience
  • Strong Excel and Photoshop skills
  • Experience conducting SEO/ASO keyword research and optimizing landing pages
  • Comfortable with web analytics tools including Omniture and Google Analytics
  • Disciplined organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Comfort in fast-paced, informal, high-energy environment
  • Experience with pregnancy, parenting or lifestyle content a plus
  • A passion to help moms – that’s non-negotiable!
