IGN is looking for a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to work on our next generation ad technology platform in our San Francisco, CA office. The Software Engineer will develop, migrate, and maintain web applications with our Ad Ops and Engineering teams and will lead ad-related initiatives such as the adoption of the IAB’s LEAN and FLEX standards, extending measurement protocols from CPM to CPV and native, and working with business stakeholders for any ad technology solutions and innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate new solutions for IGN's desktop/mobile/apps display and video ad offerings
  • Integrate web applications with client-side display ad solutions using ad serving platforms, such as Google DoubleClick For Publishers
  • Integrate and manage video ad serving on any screen where IGN serves video content (Desktop and mobile sites, XBOX, Playstation, YouTube, IOS and Android native apps, Roku, etc)
  • Migrate legacy code / implementations to new frameworks and innovate new solutions.
  • Debug in-house and third-party ad tags
  • Work with the team to help define, prioritize, and document project requirements, working with all stakeholders to ensure the methodology and rationale behind decisions are clearly communicated and accepted.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge in ad technologies such as: IMA SDKs, cookies & tracking, ad targeting, audience data, and any ad server experience and enterprise systems, such as Google DFP
  • Experience with PHP, Zend or similar MVC framework, HTML5 / CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery or any JavaScript library/framework
  • Knowledgeable in AJAX, XML, JSON
  • Must be able to clearly communicate technical issues to various tech and non-tech departments
  • Enjoys videos games and the entertainment industry
  • Has watched at least one IGN Video before applying to this position
  • BS in Computer Science or related engineering field, or an equivalent work experience

 

In addition, competitive candidates will have experience or familiarity in one or more of the following areas: HTML5 video players (i.e. VideoJS), online monetization strategies, IAB standards, technical project management, Native iOS and Android app development, formal process methodologies (i.e. Agile, RUP and SCRUM).
